Bitcoin mining difficulty
Loading current Bitcoin data
Connecting to live sources…The current network target that determines how difficult it is for miners to find a valid block hash.
What it means
Mining difficulty is a relative measure of how hard it is to find a Bitcoin block compared with the protocol's easiest allowed target.
Why it matters
Bitcoin adjusts difficulty every 2,016 blocks to keep average block production near ten minutes as hashrate changes.
Higher difficulty means miners must perform more work, on average, to find a valid block.
Lower difficulty means valid blocks are easier to find relative to the preceding difficulty period.
