Bitcoin network hashrate

An estimate of the Bitcoin network's recent computational work rate, shown in exahashes per second.

What it means

Hashrate estimates how many SHA-256 hashes Bitcoin miners collectively attempt each second. One EH/s equals one quintillion hashes per second.

Why it matters

Hashrate is a broad indicator of mining participation and the computing power securing Bitcoin's proof-of-work chain.

HIGHER

Higher estimated hashrate means more computing power is participating, all else equal, and usually increases mining competition.

LOWER

Lower estimated hashrate means less computing power appears active. Short-term estimates can fluctuate because blocks arrive randomly.

Source & methodology

mempool.space mining data. BitcoinNeon uses the latest average hashrate value in mempool.space's one-month mining dataset and converts hashes per second to EH/s.
