Bitcoin transaction fees

Connecting to live sources…The recommended priority fee rate for a Bitcoin transaction, measured in satoshis per virtual byte.
What it means
Fee rate is expressed in sat/vB: satoshis paid for each virtual byte of transaction data. The displayed value is mempool.space's current half-hour estimate, with its fastest estimate used as a fallback.
Why it matters
Miners generally prioritize transactions offering higher fee rates. The estimate helps users judge the cost of seeking reasonably prompt confirmation.
Higher recommended fees usually mean stronger competition for limited block space and a busier mempool.
Lower recommended fees usually mean less competition for block space. Actual confirmation timing is never guaranteed.
Source & methodology
mempool.space recommended fees. BitcoinNeon requests mempool.space's recommended-fees endpoint, prefers halfHourFee, and falls back to fastestFee. The number is an estimate, not a required network fee.
